Eggstone - Taramasalata

Lest we forget...

I am a huge fan ov Monte Cazazza, his enfant terrible persona : nee, art terrorist factions, hissy fits in art galleries, posting gay hardcore porn to well known U.S politicians etc have always made me smile.
When i was aware of art , I was, and have always been subject to an awe that is something between.... , thrilling, disgust, upset, and overall.. an errr annoyingly "wanting to hear more".

I first saw him on the video of Throbbing Gristle "live at Oundle School" AND i was hooked..
He worked as an artist for many years . And when he met Throbbing gristle crew, most notably "Genesis P Orridge".. Something odd happened, and together, they where quite scary, in the sense that they discovered that life has no boundries, or art has no value, or merit (to which I agree).. but later turned into paranoia, and distrust (all seen in it's embryonic stage in the Oundle School videos.

He has released a few albums, but my favourite is "The worst of Monte Cazazza"
My favourite is "Get that habit man" .. ooh i adore it!! video below of "The Atom Smasher" and download of "Kick that habit man" (from the worst of Monte Cazazza)

Monte Cazazza _ Kick that Habit Man

KATAPULTO

Wonderful stuff from Polish musician Katapulto, I actually met him at the "CRACK" magazine launch party last friday. He is a splendid chap.. with a lot of ideas, and enthusiasm for his craft.
His music is completely filled with art terrorism, lifted with humour, and to be honest a slight feeling of bewilderment.
Check out his myspace page here. I personally love his track "Lost files, hidden folders" I am a sucker for spikey euro madness.. best choon of the week!! Video below:)

THE HORRORS - Mirror's Image

Crikey .. I still love this band, and this is an excellent choice as a single, when I hear it, it always reminds me of a scenario in my head .. "Kevin Shields, has been kidnapped and locked in the recording studio, until they threatened his family with pain of death, until he does some guitar riffs"
Which.. if turns out to be true, I could have sold that story to The Sun newspaper.
Anyway great video, i love the low fi video effects (which we used to called 3rd generation, video, back in the day). Super stuff .

WHOMADEWHO - Mixes

As promised in an earlier blog.. I have two mixes for the excellent song by WHOMADEWHO - Keep me in my plane. To see the video click here . Enjoy, more mixes as and when i can find em.

FAUX PAS - remix stuff

I am a big fan of Faux Pas .. and have feautured a remix he had done in an earlier blog, well here are two new mixes, both wonderful .. and really topical (RE: weather) it is hot, hot, hot today in sunny Bristol, so what way to feel the sunshine? Get these on your MP3 player.
I really love this guy.. his music is always inspiring, and never leaves feeling.. "is that it?" New album on the way as well.
check out his blog here.

Paul Dempsey - Romana ( Faux Pas mix)

Rectifiers - Blackbird (faux pas mix)

I adore.. AND I MEAN ADORE! Sigur ros, They have the most beautiful sound, and vision, so when I got my hands on Jonsi and Alex - Riceboy sleeps, I was overjoyed, such a masterpiece of an album.. anyway before i get too sentimental watch the videos below.. and if you have not already.. try and listen to the Riceboy Sleeps, album .. and also any Sigur Ros albums, I think they have not done a duff album yet :)

This year sees the 10th anniversary of Mark Leckey's short film, Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore, perhaps the finest portrayal of British nightlife ever captured.

Leckey is best known for his exhibition Industrial Light & Magic, which won the 2008 Turner prize. He had first appeared alongside Damien Hirst at the ICA's New Contemporaries show in 1990, but by 1999 had fallen off the radar. Fiorucci … was a devastating return to form.

Fragments of "found" video footage from British nightclubs are spliced together, repeated and slowed down, while a perfectly edited collage of ambient sounds – snatches of rave tracks, crowd noise, men bellowing across provincial shopping precincts – filters in and out. There's a loose chronology – northern soul, soul weekenders, casuals, acid house – but the two defining themes of the film are timeless.

Firstly, what deeply strange places nightclubs are; hundreds of strangers, all as high as kites, crammed together in a deliberately disorientating space. And secondly, how much poignancy there is in something ostensibly celebratory; the idea that "the best days of your lives" will be wiped away by a change in fashion. Leckey captures this beautifully in the occasional sound of tolling bells, the endless headlong rush of the video timecodes, the snippets of empty rooms and the suddenly frozen images of young, apprehensive faces.

Jonathan Jones wrote that
"(Leckey) haunts the secret parts of modern culture, where memory and emotion linger". By doing so, he succeeded where almost everyone else fails – in accurately conveying what it feels like to be inside a nightclub, when being inside a nightclub is the most important thing in your life. Thanks to online video sites, the film is now available again; take 15 minutes to put on the headphones and sink back into Britain's clubbing past.

Fiorucci Made Me Hardcore (Mark Leckey)

Just found the cover for CRACK magazine that I am in. I will be going to the launch party next week, and is availible in Bristol for free! at the usual art galleries and finer independant book sellers, but will get the full info when i get my grubby mits on the first copy.. looks all in all promising. I will try and get an interview with the publishers for this blog in the near future.

ALL DAMN DAY - Video short with Genesis p Orridge

Funny and odd video with a cameo from Genesis p Orridge.. is it me or do I actually get the joke? I find this hilarious.. you decide.. you can see more of this and another video on the Genesis p Orridge website.

I got this email from a long time friend Mr K .. I could write more but this is what he put in the email.. this is a must have for any disco fan.. and i believe you can still get this on vinyl.. :)

"I been meaning to send this to you for a while - it's appearing on my current mixes. But more than anything i love the simplicity of her just stood there doing the same dance for 4 minutes - and not looking at all self concious. She looks like she's popped out from her job in Chelsea Girl for half an hour to shoot a video"

Ha ha Mr K .. either that or just popped to the back of the shop at Dolcis, whilst dreaming about *twinkles* nitespot.. boob toobs away!

This is a great video for QUA .. i really enjoyed their song "Circles".. and have been following these for a very long time.. the website is a great way to see bigger videos espesh Good morning Sun.

WOW this is harder than a shot of tequila in your espresso... completely nuts and totally lovable Kap Bambino are completely fierce, and take no prisoners. They could be compared to Crystal Castles, but I think they are a lot more edgy... they hail from france, but their sound does not give this away.. complete mayhem to wake you all up.

You can check em out here ... wonderful video below.. and a sneaky free mp3.

Kap Bambino - Red Sign

I just love this video, there is no narrative to speak of , but then again the track is very dreamy, and I adore the use of the old archive footage that make this a most pleasant video to watch. It has a slow build up to the most lushist of strings (I am a string whore).. reallly worth checking em out here and here I am just itching to buy their music, and I think you should do the same.
